A Music Video of Jonathan Green painting to ‘Carry Me Home’ by Marlena Smalls. The video is featured in the moving film by award winning filmmaker, Charles Allan Smith, documenting celebrated artist, Jonathan Green as he brings to life on canvas the African American ritual of Seeking. Pulling from his very own memories as a young man, he journeys back through his ancestry to paint, ‘Seeking’, honoring the African American slaves that lived and were buried at Clermont Cemetery on the grounds of the Mepkin Abbey in South Carolina.

 

Filled with the spiritual sounds of famed singer, Marlena Smalls, Jonathan Green’s Seeking celebrates and acknowledges the significant contributions and sacrifices that African Americans made throughout American History.
